Nintendo 3DS Beats Out PS4, Xbox One For Hardware Sales In February

nintendo-new-3ds-2014-11When it comes to video game consoles, most people tend to focus more on Sony and Microsoft’s offering, but when it comes to handheld video game consoles, this is where Nintendo shines. According to recent data gathered by the NPD Group, it has been revealed that for the month of February in the US, the Nintendo 3DS actually outsold both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Nintendo 3DS has been lumped together into a single family as under it there are several different models, like the Nintendo 3DS, the 3DS XL, and the new 3DS XL, but in total it seems that Nintendo’s 3DS family has managed to beat out the competition. However to be fair the type of games gamers play on their handhelds versus living room consoles tend to be different, but well done Nintendo anyway!

It was also found that for the first two months of 2015, Nintendo’s 3DS hardware sales have seen a 90% spike compared to the same period last year. It is said to be largely thanks to the release of the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask which was also found to be the top-selling game for the month of February.

As for Sony and Microsoft, the NPD Group’s data revealed that Sony managed to outsell Microsoft for February. Given that the past few months Microsoft actually managed to beat Sony, it looks like Sony has managed to take back the crown.
