HTC-One-32

HTC had previously confirmed that it will release the Android 5.1 update for the HTC One M8 and One M7 Google Play Edition variants. Last month the company followed through on its promise and released said update for the One M8 GPE. Now it’s the predecessor’s turn. Today Android 5.1 for HTC One M7 Google Play Edition has been released, it’s being sent out over-the-air as all software updates are these days.

Build LMY470 is now being sent out over-the-air for all HTC One M7 Google Play Edition units. It comes in at 280MB and will bump up the core OS version of the One M7 GPE to Android 5.1.

Besides the OS version bump the update also brings certain crucial security fixes, as well as performance and stability enhancements. No major features are included in this update.

Minor features are present and they include HD Voice Calling, dual-SIM support, Device Protection alongside several new animations, tweaks for wireless connection set-ups, system volume controls and notifications.

Granted that it hasn’t been among the first devices that received the Android 5.1 update soon after Google released it, but at least the One M7 Google Play Edition is getting it before some of the very popular Android flagships from other OEMs.
