LG G5 Rumored To Sport Iris Recognition Technology

iris-recognitionThe LG G4 has yet to fully launch in markets around the world so it does seem a bit early to talk about its successor, the LG G5. However rumors about one of the handset’s features has surfaced and if the rumors are to be believed, LG could be looking to install iris recognition technology in the LG G5.

As it stands, LG has not include fingerprint scanning technology into its flagship phone and the reason behind, and perhaps the reason is because they were holding out for iris recognition technology which is supposedly more secure than fingerprint scanning. The technology that the company will be implementing is courtesy of IRIENCE.

This is a South Korean based company specializing in biometrics and they have recently developed an iris scanning module that could be used in smartphones. Now some of you guys might be wondering wouldn’t this make it to LG’s second flagship phone of 2015? While it is reasonable to think so, apparently the software side still has some work to do and it might not be ready for the company’s next flagship, hence the LG G5 which is rumored for 2016.

As it stands, smartphones like the Vivo X5 Pro and the Fujitsu Arrows NX F-04G are some of the phones to feature the technology. Now whether or not iris scanning will prove to be just as secure, if not more, than fingerprint technology remains to be seen, but it is an interesting development all the same. Until then take it with a grain of salt for now.
