uppereastside_gallery_image7If you have yet to check out Apple’s new store in New York’s Upper East Side, you probably should. As you can see in the image above, the look of the store is very different from the rest of the Apple Stores at the moment and exudes a more premium feel, kind of like walking into a luxury fashion retail store.

Well as it turns out the Upper East Side store won’t be the only one sporting that fancy new design. A report from Mac Otakara (via Cult of Mac) has revealed that starting in July, Apple is apparently planning to revamp a good number of their stores across the country, giving them a more premium feel like the one in the Upper East Side.

Apparently both Jony Ive and Angela Ahrendts have teamed up for this project, and given Ive’s background in design that led to the creation of many of Apple’s products, and Ahrendts’ background in fashion and retail given that she was the former CEO of Burberry, safe to say that Apple Store customers can look forward to a fancy shopping experience.

The report goes on to claim that Apple plans to display a lesser variety of products in their stores, perhaps to give it a cleaner and more minimalist feel, although presumably this will mostly apply to third-party products and accessories. It is unclear yet if the redesigns will make its way to other Apple Stores around the world.
