Rovio And Lego Team Up For Angry Birds Toys

angry birds legoYes, it would seem that after all these years, Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise is still clinging on and recently it looks like it might have gotten a new lease on life. The company has recently announced on its website that they will be teaming up with Lego to create a series of construction toys based on the Angry Birds franchise.

Dubbed Lego Angry Birds, these toys will be released in the spring of 2016 to coincide with the release of the Angry Birds movie. According to Rovio’s CEO Pekka Rantala, “The LEGO brand has an unparalleled ability to connect with people through products that spark creativity and imagination. We’re really excited to build experiences together with this amazing best-in-class partner.”

The exact details of the toys remains unknown, but like we said it will be based on Angry Birds. In some ways it is a little ironic considering that Angry Birds is a game that sees players fling birds into structures, thus destroying them, so to create a construction set with Lego is a little funny.

Granted the Angry Birds franchise probably isn’t what it used to be, especially considering that there are so many newer and better games out there, but Rovio has been holding onto it for quite a while. The company has attempted to create different styles of games based on the franchise, like Angry Birds Go, Angry Birds Stella Pop, and etc., safe to say that it hasn’t really captured our attention the same way as the original.
