nintendo mobileNintendo is expected to make their smartphone games debut in the near future, but the question is will the games they bring to the table be able to appeal to the masses? After all these games won’t be direct ports of existing titles, but will instead be games based on Nintendo’s franchises created by DeNA.

Well it turns out that in a bid to ensure that they appeal to just about every game possible, it seems that DeNA will be creating these games across a variety of genres to make sure that they cover all their bases. According to the company’s CEO Shintaro Asako who spoke during the Pocket Gamer Connects event today, it was revealed that there would be at least five games in the works.

Asako was quoted as saying, “I understand some people like RPGs, casual games. That’s why we decided to work together to create five games, hitting on different genre-utilizing IPs. We want to make sure out of those five IP that we can end up attracting hundreds of millions of people.”

This seems to be in line with what Nintendo had said earlier about trying to create games with mass appeal. This included creating games with different price points, or in some cases even creating games using the free-to-play model. In any case safe to say that many are eager to see what Nintendo and DeNA will be able to bring to the table, so check back with us in the future for more updates.
