The rumor claims that come 2016, Apple could use the diagnostic port to release a series of smart bands. This will allow Apple to introduce additional features to the Apple Watch, such as sensors, that could not be fit into the original design of the Apple Watch, possibly due to size constraints in which Apple had to decide which features were more necessary than others.
The report suggests that we might be able to look forward to a respiratory rate sensor, a blood pressure sensor, and a body temperature sensor, all of which might come in handy for users looking to improve their health and fitness, or to monitor their bodies to make sure that nothing is out of the ordinary.
Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we have to say that we do enjoy the idea of a smart band which improves upon the functionality of the device. Exactly how true these claims are is anyone’s guess, but hopefully more concrete details and evidence will emerge soon.
