blackberry-venice-slider

It has been a while since BlackBerry launched a flagship handset, despite all of the troubles that it faces in the market BlackBerry is sticking with hardware for now. Back at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March the company showed off a new flagship handset that it’s going to launch later this year. This flagship slider handset has been pictured a couple of times in the past and now there’s a new one circulating online.

Believed to be codenamed Venice this handset is based on the slider form factor, meaning that a full QWERTY keyboard will slide out from the device itself.

BlackBerry has made such devices in the past but now sliders aren’t common anymore, the company is certainly taking a bet on this rather ambitious design like it did with the square BlackBerry Passport.

Rumor has it that this handset is going to have a dual-edge curved display much like the one you see on the Galaxy S6 edge and Samsung is believed to be the supplier for this display. There’s no word on the specifications as yet but since this is going to be a flagship we can expect high-end specifications.

So far BlackBerry has not said when it intends on formally unveiling this new device, since last year’s flagship was announced during the fall it’s possible that the company might stick with that timeframe this time around as well.
