facebook-notes-new

Some Facebook users might be aware of a feature that has long been available on the world’s largest social network called Notes. Facebook introduced Notes in a bid to make people share long pieces on the social network instead of other blogging platforms but over time this feature lost its appeal and Facebook itself pulled it behind the curtain so to speak. It has introduced a major Notes overhaul today though and it seems like Facebook wants the blogger in all of us to opt for Notes as our go-to casual blogging platform.

Notes now has a much more modern design than before with cleaner fonts and larger cover images, it’s the kind of layout that one would expect from a blogging platform.

One can’t help but make comparisons with Medium, a relatively new publishing platform that is increasingly becoming popular particularly among journalists and professionals. Notes appears to be taking a swing at Medium with its overhaul.

It’s unlikely though that the professionals and journalists who rely on Medium will immediately flock to Notes on Facebook but the social network’s billion-plus users will appreciate a new version of Notes for personal and casual posts. They’ll certainly like the ease of use this provides as opposed to setting up a blog through WordPress or Blogger for example.

The new version of Notes is gradually being rolled out to Facebook users across the world so it may take some time for it to go live for everybody.
