LockScreenThe iOS lock screen is pretty basic. It displays the time, the date, notifications, and can launch the camera directly. However it’s the notifications part that can get a bit messy, especially if you’re the type that wakes up to a ton of messages and emails on a daily basis, which is why designer Louie Mantia decided to reimagine the iOS lock screen.

For those wondering who Mantia is and what business he has redesigning lock screens, Mantia actually worked at Apple. He was a designer on the iTunes design team until 2011 which is when he decided to leave the Cupertino company, so safe to say he does have some experience as far as designing for Apple is concerned.

Now as you can see, the redesigned lock screen looks more compact and neat. It also sums up your notifications into their respective apps so that you can just tap the app to launch it and check it out. This is compared to the barrage of notifications that you can sometimes wake up to and have no idea where to begin.

It has also gained the ability to display the weather information on your lock screen so that in a glance you will be able to determine the weather at various points in the day. We doubt that Apple will be adopting such lock screen anytime soon, but we have to say that we dig it and hopefully one day we will see a similar more functional lock screen from Apple in the future.
