Apple’s iPhone cameras have always been considered to be pretty good. While there are brands and models out there that can outperform the iPhones, for the most part they have been rather reliable and thanks to photographer Lisa Bettany, she has put together a camera comparison of the iPhones over the years.
As you can see in the same image above, it shows how much the iPhone’s camera (both hardware and software) have progressed over the years. As expected the first couple of generations of the iPhone did not have particularly good images. They were extremely low-resolution and the details weren’t there.
However as time and technology progressed, you can clearly see how the photos have been more refined, with better colors and details represented in the photos. In fact as you can see in the photo comparisons above, Bettany did a backlit macro test and as you can tell, the new iPhone 6s performed the best.
It captured the background with enough bokeh to bring the subject into focus, displaying a clear contrast between the deep red color, the shadows, and the light coming through the translucent gummy gear. If you’d like to see if the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is for you in terms of the camera department, head on over to Snap Snap Snap for the rest of the photo comparisons.
