It has been a week since Halo 5: Guardians was launched worldwide which is why Microsoft is now giving a status update on the launch. According to the company the new title is the fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive game ever and it’s actually the biggest Halo launch ever that has already pulled in more than $400 million in global sales.
This spectacular launch of the new title has pushed the Halo franchise to over $5 billion lifetime both games and hardware combined. Halo 5: Guardians was the most played of any game on Xbox One as well as the most played on Xbox Live. Clearly Microsoft has got a hit on its hands.
The company also revealed that in just one week after launch players have logged in over 21 million hours of gameplay including 12 million hours in the campaign mode alone. Its multiplayer modes have seen nine million total hours played.
Halo 5: Live game launch broadcast has also bagged the Guinness World Records title for the most watched video game launch broadcast, pulling in over 330,000 unique streams on the evening of the broadcast. Content from the broadcast generated some 5.5 million views throughout the week.
