Confirmed: Adele’s “25” Will Not Be Available For Streaming

adele 25A report from yesterday suggested that Adele’s “25” album might not be available for streaming at launch. Turns out the rumors were right as it has been confirmed that Adele’s latest album, which has been released today, will not be making its way onto any of the music streaming platforms available today.

According to a statement from Spotify,  “We love and respect Adele, as do her 24 million fans on Spotify. We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy 25 on Spotify alongside 19 and 21 very soon.” Apple Music also confirmed that her album would not be available for streaming either.

However if you do want a digital copy, you can purchase one via iTunes in which Apple stated that they are “thrilled to offer” the album digitally. Unfortunately it is unclear as to why Adele has chosen not to release her albums on streaming platforms, but Deezer’s CEO Tyler Goldman offered up a possible reason as to why.

Speaking to Reuters, Goldman said, “She’s benefiting from paid subscriptions, but she’s using this as an opportunity to try and sell more CD’s or downloads. If all artists did this, we wouldn’t have the growth in subscriptions we have.” We’re not sure if Adele will be changing her mind anytime soon, but for now if you wish to listen to her album, you’ll have to buy it.
