blackberry-priv-review_ubergizmo_03For those of you out there who are rocking to the BlackBerry Priv, how has your experience been so far? A rockin’ one? If the answer is in the affirmative, then good for you. Here we are with word that the BlackBerry Priv is about to receive its very first monthly maintenance patch through an Over The Air (OTA) update, which will weigh in at a rather hefty 475MB – which means it would be best if you stick to a Wi-Fi network to get the update down, and make sure your device has enough battery power to last the distance, too. Normally, 50% or more battery life is more than adequate to see the job through.
.
This particular update will not see any major changes introduced into Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but what it does have is to deliver a slew of new changes, improvements, as well as optimizations. Some of the changes include an improved camera that will make the app faster, as well as being able to deliver better images in low-light image conditions.

Apart from that, the Priv’s software has also been tinkered with to deliver a better overall system performance. It will be more stable, and one should see a lower number of crashing and freezing happen. Last but not least, BlackBerry historically takes pride in the security of its devices, which is this OTA update will also see the inclusion of December’s security patches thrown into the mix to hold its own against the other Android security threats out there.

The update is readily available to all BlackBerry Priv units that were picked up via ShopBlackBerry.com, while carrier versions’ update will start to roll out from December 7 onward. [Press Release]
