ILCA-68_front_w_SAL1855-LargeLast month Sony announced a new DSLR in the form of the Sony A68. This is a camera aimed at budding photographers who are looking for a camera with an affordable price tag. Now for those curious about the camera’s availability and price, Sony has confirmed that the A68 will be arriving stateside in April 2016.

Now the previous announcement did state March 2016, but given that the prices were quoted in Euro we can only assume that the date was for the European market. As for US pricing, it seems that it will be same the meaning that it will be priced at around $600f or the body-only, but if you want the kit lens you’ll have to pay $700 which will come with the camera and a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

So what we can expect from the Sony A68? Just in case you missed the announcement from last month, the Sony A68 will come equipped with a 24MP APS-C sensor. It features a hybrid electronic OLED viewfinder that provides 100% coverage and faithful color reproduction. Sony is also touting a 4D Focus AF system.

This means that the camera will feature a 79-point phase-detection AF system, so autofocusing should be pretty fast. It can shoot up to 8fps continuously, and will also sport a 2.7-inch TFT LCD display that can be tilted 135-degrees up, and 55-degrees down.
