People who pay $99 per year for an Amazon Prime membership get access to the company’s video streaming service aside from getting two-day free shipping on eligible items. Amazon has spent a considerable amount of money acquiring and creating original content for Prime Video to remain competitive with the likes of Netflix and Hulu. It recently launched a show that’s available for free to everybody and there’s speculation that it might eventually launch a free video streaming service.

Earlier this week Amazon released the first episode of season 3 of The Fashion Fund, a show that’s produced by Conde Nast Entertainment, the show has fashion design contests competing for a $400,000 grand prize.

It’s available to stream for free, doesn’t matter if you’re a Prime member or not, just visit Amazon.com and watch the first and upcoming episodes as they’re released. The only catch here is that you have to sit through advertisements as that’s the only way Amazon makes money by allowing you to watch the content for free.

There’s speculation now that Amazon might see value in this model and start offering exclusive shows for online streaming absolutely free, the model will be ad-supported, enabling Amazon to cash in on the audience that doesn’t want to pay $99 per year and rake in online advertising dollars.

This is pure speculation at this point though. Amazon hasn’t confirmed anything about such plans so until it does we should take this with a pinch of salt.
