lg_k5Earlier this year at CES 2016, LG announced two smartphones – the LG K10 and the LG K7. However it seems that these weren’t the only handsets that LG had planned because in subsequent ads, it was noticed that LG also had devices like the LG K5, and K8. Now the LG K8 has already been announced, which leaves the LG K5.

Turns out we won’t have to wait much longer as LG has since officially taken the wraps off the LG K5. According to Juno Cho, President and CEO, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, “We are aware of the diverse needs and wants of our customers around the world and our goal is to deliver the best products to meet their expectations. The K8 and K5 will be fantastic choices for anyone who is seeking a smartphone with great looks, great looks, at a great price.”

The LG K5 isn’t the most impressive smartphone but it does pack the bare minimum specs, so for those shopping on a budget this should do the trick. The K5 will feature a 5-inch display with a 480×854 resolution. It will also be powered by a MediaTek MT6735 SoC with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable storage.

There is also a removable 1,900mAh battery, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and 4G LTE connectivity. Unfortunately its current choice of OS is Android 5.1 Lollipop, but hopefully we will see it bumped to Android 6.0 Marshmallow later. No word on pricing but the handset is expected to make its way to Europe, CIS and Latin America.
