far_cry_primal_survivorIf there is one thing that gamers with 4K monitors lament about is the lack of content that has been optimized for their screens. Many game developers still opt to use Full HD as their max resolution, while some might offer slightly higher resolutions, but at the moment there aren’t that many games designed for 4K.

The good news is that if you’re a PC gamer with a 4K display and you have a copy of Ubisoft’s Far Cry Primal, the publisher has announced the availability of the game’s Survivor Mode patch, which in addition to new content, will also come with a bonus addition of 4K textures so that you will be able to better enjoy the game’s graphics on your high resolution monitor.

According to Ubisoft, “If you’re feeling adventurous, you can jump into Survivor mode now with a copy of Far Cry Primal on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC. PC players get an additional bonus, as the patch also includes 4K textures to make Oros look even better at high resolutions.” Note that the 4K texture pack is only for PC gamers.

For those unfamiliar, Survivor Mode was previously announced as a free patch for Far Cry Primal. It makes the game a little more challenging by stripping the game of some of its conveniences, like its minimap feature. There is also a permadeath option for those particularly brave, or alternatively you can give yourself a second life that replenishes after a certain amount of progression. The patch is currently available for download so fire up Far Cry Primal to get your hands on it.
