Snapchat has really been a hit with the younger crowd ever since it emerged on the scene a couple of years ago and it appears that the social network hasn’t lost its shine yet for that particular demographic. A new study finds that Snapchat is now the most popular social network among teenagers, more popular than the likes of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Taking Stock With Teens is the name of the study conducted by Piper Jaffray in which 6,500 U.S. teens were polled to ascertain what they believed to be the most important social network. 28 percent of the respondents said it was Snapchat. Instagram took second place with 27 percent of the vote followed by Twitter and Facebook in third and fourth place respectively.

Piper Jaffray conducts the Taking Stock With Teens survey semi-annually and it shows how Snapchat’s popularity has increased over the past year. In the spring 2015, survey Instagram was at the top and Snapchat made fourth place. Snapchat showed improvement in the fall 2015 survey in which it overtook Facebook and came in third on the list.

The latest survey shows that teens are more interested in viewing multimedia content like photos and videos instead of reading through text-based updates on Facebook and Twitter. Snapchat has been particularly improving the multimedia end of things to provide more visual content and users, especially teens, seem to be responding really well.
