quake 3FPS games probably wouldn’t be where they are today if it wasn’t for certain classic titles that set the tone and standard back in the day. These titles include Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake. Now so far we’ve seen Wolfenstein get a reboot, and the latest Doom game was also just released, meaning that if anything, Quake would be ripe for a reboot as well.

If you are a fan of the franchise, you might get your wish thanks to a recently spotted job listing. According to a job listing at id Software, it reads, “id Software is looking for a Senior Physics & Simulation Programmer to work as part of a development team on legendary id game properties like DOOM and QUAKE.”

Now we reckon that this might seem like a stretch to think that just the mention of Quake could hint at a reboot. However the fact that it mentions the game specifically seems to suggest that id Software could be looking at rebooting the franchise. The last major Quake game was Quake 4 and that was released in 2005, meaning that it has been 11 years since we had a “proper” Quake game.

There is 2007’s Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, but its gameplay is very different from previous Quake titles which is why we wouldn’t really consider it part of the original franchise. That being said, we know that a Quake reboot is possible as back in 2011, John Carmack did state that they are still tossing around ideas for the next Quake game.
