Samsung Galaxy S8 To Come With 4K VR-Ready Display [Rumor]

samsung-logoWe know we are probably a bit early and with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 having yet to be launched, it does seem premature to talk about the Galaxy S8, which presumably will be launching next year. However it seems that the rumor mill doesn’t care about premature as the rumors have already begun trickling in.

Now we know that Samsung is interested in VR technology, and if the rumors are true, the Galaxy S8 will sport a 4K VR-ready display and has been given the codename “Project Dream” internally. Given that earlier this year Samsung showed off a 5.5-inch 4K display that they claim is VR ready, it is possible that this display is the display that could make it into the Galaxy S8.

If it does, Samsung could very well be the first OEM to market with a 4K display, unless you count the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, which while it was marketed as having a 4K display, it would scale up or down depending on the task at hand. The rumors are also claiming that the handset will be following the guidelines set out by Google for a handset to be certified as Daydream-ready.

Safe to say that this early on in the game, these rumors should be taken with generous doses of salt, but like we said, if the rumors are true, Samsung could be setting a whole new standard for smartphones next year.
