New Renders Of The Samsung Gear VR Have Surfaced

GearVR-2016-PressYesterday we reported that a blurry photo had surfaced which showed the alleged new Samsung Gear VR headset. It is a bit hard to tell from the photo exactly how the new Gear VR headset looks like, but now thanks to a report from Nowhereelse.fr, a newer and clearer rendering of the upcoming Gear VR headset has been revealed.

Just like we said before, there does not appear to be much difference in design from this version and the older version, with maybe some changes in the choice of color, but for the most part Samsung appears to have kept the form factor. However the report claims that we can expect USB-C support.

There are also some changes made to the dimension and its viewing angle, which according to publication will now measure 207mm x 122mm x 98.5mm, and its new field of view has expanded to 110 degrees, an increase from its predecessor which was at 96 degrees. Presumably the changes to the dimensions is to accommodate the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 which will be launched on the 2nd of August.

We’re not sure when the new Gear VR headset will be launched, but with the Note 7’s launch set for Tuesday, it is possible we’ll learn more then. Alternatively IFA is taking place this September so if we don’t learn more next week, we’ll find out more in the coming months, hopefully.
