skylanders-academyBack in June this year, it was announced that Activision’s Skylanders franchise would be getting its own animated series that would be debuting on Netflix this fall. For fans of the franchise, or for parents whose kids love the franchise, you’ll be pleased to learn that the series will officially debut on the 28th of October.

While we can’t say how well this series will do, it seems that they are anticipating that it will do well because a second series is already being planned for late 2017. The blurb of the show reads, “As darkness begins to threaten the balance of peace in the Skylands, Master Eon is forced to assemble a ragtag group of heroes to protect the universe from evil-doers Kaos and the Doom Raiders.”

“Using their unique blend of personalities and elemental-based super powers, Spyro and his fellow Skylanders are called upon to set aside egos as they come together to maintain harmony and balance in the land. Jam-packed with humour, heart and memorable moments, Skylanders Academy promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with epic action for kids of all ages.”

It will feature Eric Rogers (Futurama) as the series’ showrunner, and will include the likes of Justin Long, Ashley Tisdale, Jonathan Banks, and Norm MacDonald, all of whom will be providing voice acting work for the characters in the show.
