moto-z-play-hands-on_14If you had your eyes on the Moto Z or the Moto Z Play and you’d rather not buy them through a carrier, maybe you don’t like to be tied down to contracts, or you just like the freedom, you’ll be pleased to learn that both Amazon and Best Buy are currently accepting pre-orders for both handsets.

Both the models that they will be selling will be of the unlocked GSM models, meaning that you’ll be able to pick and choose whichever carrier you want, as long as they are GSM carriers such as AT&T or T-Mobile. Of course the only downside is that since they’re unlocked, you’ll have to pay the full price upfront, versus buying from a carrier in which you can opt for installment plans.

For the Moto Z, it is priced at $700, while the Moto Z Play will be priced at $450. In terms of its release, Best Buy has not stated a release date on its website, but Amazon has set its release for the 2nd of October, so pre-ordering now should see the device make its way to you in a couple of weeks.

Both the Moto Z and Moto Z Play will also be compatible with the Moto Mods modular accessories, so if battery pack addons, speakers, or better camera controls are something you’re after, then you’ll be able to take your pick. To pre-order, hit up Amazon’s website (Moto Z, Moto Z Play) or Best Buy (Moto Z, Moto Z Play).
