Microsoft Really Doesn’t Want You Using A MacBook

microsoft-macbook-trade-inApple and Microsoft’s rivalry is pretty well-known, and it seems that Microsoft is taking it to the next level by paying customers not to use Apple’s laptops. By that we mean that the Redmond company has recently unveiled a new promotion in which they will be giving customers credit if they were to trade-in their MacBook Air or MacBook Pro for one of Microsoft’s devices.

Given that Microsoft has recently unveiled their new Surface Book laptop, it is not surprising that they’d much rather customers spend money on their devices. Depending on the model and condition of your MacBook, Microsoft will be offering customers up to $650 in trade-in value as long as the credit is used towards the purchase of the Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book.

It seems that Microsoft is accepting a variety of different MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, so if you have an older device that you’re looking to replace, perhaps this could be one way to go about it. You could try selling it on your own to get a bit more cash, but we guess this takes the hassle out of it.

In the meantime Apple has recently introduced their new MacBook Pros with Touch Bar and Touch ID, so it seems that for this upcoming holiday shopping season, the battle between laptops could get pretty fierce. It should also be noted that Microsoft’s trade-in program will also cover iPads and iPhones, albeit offered at a lower value.
