instapaper
Instapaper was acquired by Pinterest earlier this year and the first major move since has been made today. Instapaper’s premium version has now been opened up for all users, they will no longer need to pay a monthly fee in order to access the premium version of this service. While Instapaper’s team will work to improve Pinterest’s core experience as part of the acquisition, it will continue to exist as a separate entity and will receive updates from the Instapaper team. Simply put, it’s here to stay.

Instapaper announced its biggest app update today since its acquisition by Pinterest back in August. It’s a big update alright since it makes the premium version free for all. The premium version provided a handful of exclusive features to subscribers who either paid $3 per month or $30 per year.

All of these features are now available to all Instapaper users even if they never subscribed to the premium version. These exclusive features include full-text search for all articles, unlimited speed reading and notes, text-to-speech playlists, and more. All users will also be able to browse the Instapaper website without any ads.

What about those that are already subscribed to the premium version? They need not worry as the Instapaper team has confirmed that it will be issuing prorated refunds to those customers in the next few weeks.
