Nexus-5X-black-01A couple of months ago we reported that some users who owned the LG Nexus 5X handset were experiencing boot loop issues. For those unfamiliar, basically this means that their phones were stuck in a constant state of booting, and this seemed to happen only after updating the phone to Android 7.0 Nougat.

The problem it seems did not lie in the software, but rather the handset itself in which it seemed that there was some kind of hardware error. Now it seems that according to users who are experiencing this problem, LG has reached out to some of them and are offering full refunds. Apparently this is due to the fact that there are no components available that could have fixed this issue.

Given that the Nexus 5X is no longer manufactured, we guess this makes sense. It is a bit of a pity but that’s the situation as it stands. According to the email, “We have received your device at our repair facility but currently a part to complete the repair is out of stock and is no longer available. To rectify this issue, we would like to offer you a refund for the full amount of your device. That amount will be determined by your sales receipt.”

We’re not sure if this applies to all Nexus 5X owners, but so far it seems that the post on Reddit seems to confirm that quite a few Nexus 5X owners have received similar offers, so that seems to be the way solution to the problem for now.
