T-Mobile Officially Launches Its First Windows 10 VR Smartphone

Last week, T-Mobile inadvertently revealed that it would soon launch a Windows 10 VR headset on its network. The smartphone in question is actually called the Alcatel Idol 4S. It’s powered by Windows 10 Mobile and is VR-ready, an Android-powered version of this handset was already released earlier this year. T-Mobile has announced its first Windows 10 VR smartphone officially today.

The Windows 10 version of this smartphone has better specifications than its Android counterpart. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It also comes with a 5.5 inch full HD display, a microSD card slot, and a 21 megapixel rear camera.

It happens to be the first Windows-powered device to support virtual reality. The Alcatel Idol 4S is going to be sold by T-Mobile bundled with a low-cost virtual reality headset that enables users to get a taste of VR with their smartphones.

This smartphone also has support for Windows Hello and Continuum features of Windows 10. It comes with a fingerprint sensor that allows for enhanced security of the device and can be hooked up to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to work as a proper PC using Continuum.

T-Mobile is going to start selling the Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 starting November 10th for $469.99 at full retail.
