Competition is heating up in the live TV streaming arena. Players like Sling TV and PlayStation Vue are going up against new competitors such as AT&T’s DirecTV Now and new services are expected to arrive next year. Amazon might launch one of its own. According to a new report, an Amazon live TV service is being developed and might be launched next year.

It has long been rumored that Amazon is interesting in launching its own live TV streaming service and a recent report suggested that the company is exploring a live sports package.

Amazon is certainly not the only company that’s thinking about breaking into this market. Hulu has already confirmed that it’s going to launch a live TV streaming component next year while CBS has teamed up with YouTube to launch a similar service called Unplugged.

No detailed information is available right now about Amazon’s live TV streaming service. It’s unclear which networks will be onboard and how much it’s going to cost on a monthly basis.

Amazon itself hasn’t said anything right now to suggest that it’s interesting in launching such a service. Perhaps we might get to hear some hints about it come 2017. One thing is for sure, though, the competition in this market is only going to increase from now on. It’s not going to be smooth sailing for new entrants.
