sfv_rage_quittersRage quitting a game when you’re losing or if your teammates are mucking around is understanding. It’s not the right thing to do, but we can understand the need to just throw your hands up in the air in frustration. Unfortunately this is a problem plaguing many games in which many players, including those on the winning side, do not get the full experience.

This is an issue with Capcom’s Street Fighter V in which the company promised to crack down on it. It seems that the company might have come up with a new way in the form of public shaming. According to a post on NeoGAF by Moaradin (via ArsTechnica), it has been discovered that Capcom could be considering giving rage quitters special icons to let other players know that this person could rage quit.

It also works in reverse which means that those who never rage quit will also be given a special icon to denote that the player is a pretty upstanding person. The text reads, “Special icons will be displayed on the Fighter Profiles of players who frequently disconnect, as well as those who never do, making it easier for players with the same icon to battle against each other.”

It is unclear when these changes will be implemented, but it sounds like an interesting idea. Whether or not it will fix the rage quitting problem remains to be seen, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Will this discourage gamers from rage quitting?
