galaxy-s7-design_01So we know that Samsung is working on bringing Android 7.0 Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and last we heard, the update was expected to be released on the 17th of January, 2017. Turns out that maybe the date was wrong because according to reports, it looks like the Nougat OTA update has started to roll out to users of either handset already.

However it seems that the update is beginning to roll out to users who participated in the beta program, so if you weren’t part of the beta then we guess you might have to wait. It is possible that by the time they’re done with the beta testers, it could be the 17th of January which is when it will make its way to the rest of Galaxy S7/S7 Edge owners.

Either way it is still good news that the update’s rollout has begun. Also we guess we should remind you guys that if you bought the phone via a carrier in the US, there will be carrier approval to wait for as well, but hopefully that won’t take too long. If you do get the notification, you’ll want to make sure that your phone has enough juice and a stable connection before you start downloading and installing the update.

In the meantime Android 7.0 Nougat’s distribution numbers are kind of low at 0.7%. Hopefully with the rollout to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, next month’s figures will be more optimistic.
