facebook-storiesWhen Instagram launched Stories, many were quick to point out how similar the feature is to Snapchat. While it might look like a copied feature, it has more or less grown into its own and has seen a fair amount of success amongst Instagram’s users. Now it looks like Facebook is bringing that feature over to its mobile app.

According to what Facebook told TechCrunch, “Facebook has long been the place to share with friends and family, but the way that people share is changing in significant ways.  The way people share today is different to five or even two years ago — it’s much more visual, with more photos and videos than ever before. We want to make it fast and fun for people to share creative and expressive photos and videos with whoever they want, whenever they want.”

As you can see in the screenshots above, how Stories exist in the main Facebook app will be similar to that of Instagram, right down to its UI and design. Launching it looks similar to what you might expect from the Instagram app, so in reality this shouldn’t be completely unfamiliar to users. The only main difference is that you’ll be sharing it with your Facebook friends instead of on Instagram.

At the moment the feature is only available to users in Ireland on iOS and Android devices, but it is expected to begin rolling out to more users around the world in the coming months.
