Resident Evil Movie Franchise Expected To Cross $1 Billion

resident-evil-movieJust like pretty much all video game movie adaptations, the Resident Evil franchise isn’t exactly what many would call amazing, at least based on what we’re seeing from the reviews. However we guess thanks to the massive fanbase the game has managed to generate, the movies have kept churning out because despite the poor reviews, people still pay to watch them.

In fact it seems that as far as revenue is concerned, the Resident Evil movie franchise is set to become a $1 billion franchise. This is according to a report from Deadline who revealed that thanks to the ticket sales in Japan for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which was worth $35 million, it pushed the franchise to $954 million.

Combine this with the international ticket sales and it will easily push it over the $1 billion mark. It is possible that because of the massive gap between the last movie, which was released back in 2012, and the latest title that many are curious to see what happens next. It should also be noted that the upcoming Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will indeed be the last in the movie’s series. So far reviews of The Final Chapter appear to be a bit better than the previous iterations.

The movie is currently set for a release on the 27th of January, 2017 in the US. In the meantime the latest installment in the Resident Evil video game franchise has also been released to much better reviews.
