With the official announcement of Destiny 2, we’re sure some gamers are wondering what will become of the original Destiny? Will it be forgotten while the folks at Bungie focus their efforts and resources towards the new game? We suppose that makes sense, since we’re sure Bungie would much rather focus on making Destiny 2 even better than its predecessor, right?

The good news is that players won’t have to worry about Bungie abandoning the original game, at least not anytime soon. Speaking to GamesRadar, community manager David Dague said, “Destiny 1 is still a game that will be there for players.” He also adds, “We’ve planned to support it for the foreseeable future, so while we do have a sense of finality and closure as the theme of this [Age of Triumph] event, we are by no means turning the lights off on Destiny 1.”

This is good news for players who are still playing Destiny 1 and who plan to keep playing it for the foreseeable future. We’re not sure how long Bungie plans on supporting the game, but given that we’ve seen MMORPGs supported for decades on end, who knows, maybe the same could happen with Destiny.

In the meantime Destiny 2 has been set for a release come 8th of September where it will be released on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.
