According to a report from March, it was suggested that Blizzard’s Hearthstone was “killing itself” due to the changes in the rules, cards, and also the increase in price. However it turns out that while that might be true, it certainly doesn’t look like the game is slowing down as Blizzard has recently announced that Hearthstone has managed to hit the 70 million player mark.

Blizzard’s announcement on the Hearthstone blog also revealed that to celebrate this feat, they will be giving away three free Journey to Un’Goro card packs to players who log into the game. These card packs will also be eligible to new players so just because you just started doesn’t mean you can’t qualify for it.

“We’re humbled and grateful that so many players have chosen to join us for some Hearthstone fun. As our way of saying thanks, starting today through the end of May, everyone who logs in will receive three free Journey to Un’Goro card packs. Yup! Everyone! Even new players! Just log in to claim your bonus packs!”

The Journey to Un’Goro expansion is the latest expansion that was released earlier last month. It also marks the start of a new approach to Hearthstone where Blizzard plans to release three full-sized content blocks a year, as opposed to a mixture of expansions and Adventures.
