The beloved 3.5mm headphone jack’s days are numbered, it seems. More and more flagship devices are ditching the jack as OEMs focus on making their devices thinner and lighter more than ever. Several renders of the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have been leaked online today. The leaked renders suggest that Google’s next flagship devices will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are said to feature a 4.95 and 5.99 inch display respectively with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage. Additional specs include stereo speakers and Android O.
If the renders are believed, Google is going to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack from its next flagship smartphones. The renders also show that both handsets are going to have a slight camera bump. The bezels appear to be very slim and the handsets have dual front-facing speaker grilles.
As expected, the fingerprint sensor is positioned at the back alongside the single camera. Despite the fact that most flagship handsets are moving to dual camera systems, Google appears to be sticking with a single rear camera for the next-generation Pixel.
Since these renders come from an unofficial source it’s too soon to think that they fully represent what Google has in store for us. Google hasn’t confirmed as yet when it’s going to unveil the new handsets but it’s probably going to be a couple of months before the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are officially announced.
