If you like to get your news from unconventional platforms then you’re going to like what NBC News has just launched. The news network has announced the launch of a news show for Snapchat. The headline news show is called “Stay Tuned” and it will be refreshed twice a day on Snapchat. The idea here is to connect the younger generation that’s not necessarily used to getting their news from conventional mediums like TV and newspapers.

Stay Tuned will be up to three minutes in length and will feature up to five segments that will bring headlines related to top national and international stories of the day. The stories will include politics, pop culture, and more.

It won’t just read a bunch of headlines to viewers, though. The show will also explain the importance and provide context about the stories, without dumbing it down.

“We’re assuming the audience is not necessarily attuned to every last coming and going with the news, but we’re also assuming that they have a real hunger for what’s going on in the world,” says NBC News’ head of digital, Nick Ascheim.

Stay Tuned is going to be hosted by NBC News correspondent Gadi Schwartz who was previously contributed to the Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC. Savannah Sellers will be joining the desk as well, she has previously worked as a digital correspondent.

NBC’s Snapchat news show will air twice every day at 7 am and 4 pm ET in the United States and Canada. Stay Tuned will also be used to deliver breaking news and special reports so on some days there might be more shows.

The shows will also feature correspondents reporting from the field in the future which would give Stay Tuned a more traditional feel.
