Digital stores make it very easy for their customers to gift items to whoever they want. However, this is a feature that’s missing from both the Xbox and Windows stores. Millions of gamers who rely on these digital stores can’t gift games. That’s about to change, though. Microsoft has confirmed that gifting will soon be live for the Xbox store. The ability to gift games will bring with it the ability to create wishlists.

Xbox Director of Programming Major Nelson and Xbox Platform CVP Mike Ybarra talked about game gifting and wishlists in a conversation at PAX West. They didn’t confirm the exact release time frame for these features but said that at least one of these new features will be released “very soon.”

I’m sure many would appreciate it if Microsoft released the ability to gift games first. The holiday season is approaching and it’s that time of the year when people are in the mood to gift items to their loved ones.

What better way for Microsoft to welcome the holiday season than by allowing millions of gamers on its platform to gift games digitally using the Xbox and Windows 10 Store.

Hopefully, Microsoft will provide more clarity with respect to the time frame in the near future.
