The thing about home deliveries is that it usually requires you or someone to be home in order to receive the package. However what if you weren’t home? Sometimes packages can be left on the doorstep, but as we have seen numerous times in the past, this could lead to someone stealing it.

However it seems that Amazon might have come up with a couple of unique ways to deliver to homes and ensure that the packages aren’t stolen. In a report from CNBC, Amazon is reportedly working on a smart doorbell device that would allow delivery drivers to gain a one-time access into your home to drop off your parcel.

An alternative could be to make the delivery into the trunk of your car, where the report claims that Amazon is in advanced talks with Phrame to forge a partnership to leverage the company’s smart license plate technology. None of these initiatives have been confirmed yet as they are still in the discussion stages, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon was looking into alternative delivery methods.

Recently a concept called DelivAir explored the possibility that drones could be used to make deliveries directly to the person who placed the order, as opposed to the address, so it’s not a stretch to think that Amazon could be changing this as well.
