It was reported recently that BlackBerry is working on a new handset that will be announced soon. We saw a leaked render of this handset a couple of days back as well. At the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, the company has officially launched the BlackBerry Motion.

As you may remember, BlackBerry is no longer building its own smartphones. It has licensed its brand to TCL that’s making BB-branded devices now. BlackBerry Motion expands the company’s portfolio of Android-powered handsets.

“Once again TCL Communication has delivered on their promise, to produce a true BlackBerry device that will meet and exceed expectations,” said SVP and GM of Mobility Solutions at Blackberry, Alex Thurber.

The initial launch of this smartphone is going to be limited but it’s going to arrive in additional markets later this year. The BlackBerry Motion will initially be sold in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

The specifications of this handset include a 5.5 inch full HD display and IP67 water and dust resistance. The handset also has a 4,000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. It’s powered by Android 7.1 Nougat and will be upgraded to Android Oreo in 2018.

It’s the first dual-SIM BlackBerry device to be launched in the Middle East. It’s available for pre-order in the aforementioned markets starting today.
