It’s not uncommon for reports to surface about a flagship device even though it’s not expected to come out for many months. Samsung has only got done with the launch of the Galaxy Note 8 and we’re already seeing reports about the Galaxy Note 9. The latest out of South Korea suggests that the Galaxy Note 9 codename is “crown.”

Samsung traditionally releases its new Galaxy Note flagships in September. It’s going to be a wait for almost a year before the Galaxy Note 9 is due, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see any reports about it.

The report out of South Korea claims that Samsung will soon begin development work on a new flagship device codenamed “crown,” that’s apparently what it’s calling the Galaxy Note 9 internally.

Samsung’s codename for the Galaxy Note 8 was “baikal,” which is one of the world’s largest lakes that’s found in Russia. It hinted at the large display size of the phablet.

The report says that the “crown” codename possibly alludes to Samsung’s desire to further expand its influence on the large-sized smartphone market.

None of this changes the fact that we can’t even think about an official announcement for the Galaxy Note 9 before August 2018 at least. We can expect to see a lot of reports, rumors, and leaks concerning the Galaxy Note 9 till then.
