At BlizzCon earlier this month, Blizzard announced the latest expansion for Hearthstone called “Kobolds & Catacombs”. However the announcement merely revealed the existence of the expansion and did not make any mention of when the expansion would be released, but we finally have a date.

In an announcement on Blizzard’s website, the developer has revealed that Kobolds & Catacombs will be released on the 7th of December. For gamers who are looking to get as many of the new cards as possible, Blizzard is selling a set of 50 card packs for $50, with a “For the Horde” card back that they can add to their collection.

Blizzard’s description of the expansion reads, “Azeroth’s rat-like, candle-loving cave folk—the kobolds—have been digging deep beneath the surface for millennia. Their catacombs stretch on for miles, wending through forbidden tombs and breaking through the walls of long-forgotten treasure vaults. A hoard of glorious loot is there for the taking—if you can survive the dangers that lurk in those uncharted tunnels!”

The expansion will feature new cards, new mechanics, and other gameplay related changes. The card packs can only be opened once the expansion is live, but in the meantime you can pre-purchase it ahead of time.
