OnePlus has started the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 5.0. What that means is that the company has released the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T Android 8.0 Oreo update. This is the first official Oreo build for these handsets. It was only a couple of months ago when the Oreo beta was released for OnePlus 3. The beta was rolled out to a limited number of users so this public release is definitely going to be welcomed by the OnePlus community.

The OxygenOS 5.0 update brings all of the features that are included in Android 8.0 Oreo. The update also adds picture-in-picture support, auto-fill, parallel apps, smart text selection, a new design for quick settings, and more. It updates the security patch level on the handset to September.

The launcher has received some tweaks as well. Users will notice a new app folder design, notification dots, and the ability to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus.

The company has pointed out that it’s an incremental update so the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T Android 8.0 Oreo update is only going to be released for a small percentage of users initially before the broader rollout in the coming days.

The OnePlus 5T, the flagship handset that OnePlus recently launched, is going to receive a similar update early next year so those who pick up the new handset will have to wait for a while before they get a taste of Oreo.
