Nokia 3310 With LTE Possibly Coming Soon

HMD Global, the company that makes Nokia-branded phones now, took us all on a walk down memory lane with the new Nokia 3310. The handset was launched last year and it only worked on 2G networks initially. The company later released a new version in September which worked on 3G networks as well as supported AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States. It seems like the company is now preparing a new version of the Nokia 3310 which will support LTE.

The new Nokia 3310 came 17 years after the original one. It has a slimmer body, a 2.4 inch QVGA color display, and even a 2 megapixel rear camera.

A TENAA listing has surfaced which reveals that the Nokia 3310 with LTE has made its customary stop at China’s equivalent of the FCC. The model that has been certified by TENAA has support for TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA, the two most popular wireless bands in China.

This particular model is also said to be running a version of Alibaba’s Yun OS. It’s not surprising given that the 3G version of this handset runs an OS that’s different from the 2G version that was released initially.

Whether or not this new Nokia 3310 with LTE is going to be released elsewhere, particularly in the United States, remains to be seen. HMD Global hasn’t confirmed anything about it at this point in time.
