Nokia launched a new iteration of the Nokia 6 earlier this month in China. Aptly called the Nokia 6 (2018), the handset came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box even though many would have expected it to be running Android 8.0 Oreo. However, the company isn’t making users wait a very long time for the next major update. It has released Android 8.0 Oreo for the Nokia 6 (2018) as well as the Nokia 7 which was launched in October last year.

HMD Globa,l the Finnish company that makes Nokia-branded smartphones, launched the Nokia 7 in October 2017. Like the Nokia 6 (2018), it’s also available in China only at this point in time. The company has now released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for both handsets.

These aren’t beta firmware for the handsets. The company has confirmed through its official Weibo account that the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 have officially received the Android 8.0 Oreo update in the country. The company has also revealed via Weibo that it’s going to release a stable version of Oreo for the original Nokia 6 in China over the next few days.

It’s unclear when both of these handsets will be released in markets outside China. Nothing has been said about the Nokia 6 (2018) right now but some reports suggest that the Nokia 7 might be released in markets like India later this month.
