Like how many social media platforms start, Instagram originally relied on a chronological timeline where the latest posts would be displayed first. Instagram later changed this to a contextual timeline where based on your likes and preferences, Instagram would order the posts based on that.
This meant that a post from a few days ago still has the chance to show up at the top of your feed. However it seems Instagram could be considering returning to its chronological roots, or at least that’s according to a video uploaded by Instagram user @jackharding (via Resource) where it shows his feed in chronological order.
Note that this feature seems to be part of the beta and only available to a limited number of users, at least for now. It is unclear as to whether Instagram will be doing away with the current timeline in favor of chronological, or if Instagram will give users the option of viewing their feed chronologically, which is what many were asking Instagram to give at the start.
It is also possible that this is a test and nothing more, and that it will never amount to anything. Either way we’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime is Instagram possibly bringing back the chronological timeline something you would be interested in?
