Now this is something that Sega fans will be excited to hear. The publisher has confirmed that it’s going to release a collection of the classic Genesis games for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this year. However, it appears that someone at Sega jumped the gun on the announcement as the tweet confirming it was promptly deleted, only to be reposted several hours later.

Sega Genesis Collection, also known as the Sega Mega Drive Collection in other markets, will feature Sonic The Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, The Revenge of Shinobi, Altered Beast, and more.

This isn’t the first time that Sega has launched its Genesis collection. It previously did that for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and that collection included 50 of its classic titles. It’s possible that the upcoming version will contain a similar number of titles, if not more.

Sega has only confirmed that the collection will be headed to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC even though the Nintendo Switch seems like the perfect console for these games. However, the publisher is yet to confirm whether or not this collection will be released for Nintendo’s blockbuster console as well.

Sega fans can now mark their calendars as the Sega Genesis Collection will be released for the aforementioned platforms on May 29th, 2018.
