Fornite is a very popular battle royale title that’s played by millions of people across the globe. Many of those players would have been surprised to find out that they couldn’t log into the game and couldn’t get past the start screen. The game has been suffering server issues for well over a day now which has made it very difficult for players to access the game. Almost a day went by before Epic, the developer, provided an estimate of when normal service will likely be resumed.

Epic first acknowledged Fortnite’s server issues about 20 hours ago and the game came down a few hours later. It brought the servers offline for emergency maintenance and said that there was no ETA at that time on when the servers would be back up again.

Epic later said that it was trying to deploy upgrades to its database systems and that it was working to get the servers back online. Even then no estimate was provided on when players could expect normal service to resume.

The developer has now posted an update on Twitter informing users that services should begin to recover “over the next couple of hours.” Players on PS4 will be unable to log in for an additional period of time due to issues with Epic’s account system.
