The original Nokia X handsets came out many moons ago but recent reports have suggested that HMD Global could be revising the lineup this year. New evidence has surfaced which suggests that the Nokia X is going to be officially launched on May 16th. The handset is also going to be HMD Global’s first Nokia-branded smartphone with a display notch.

HMD Global has a five-day event in Beijing where it’s showing off its lineup of smartphones and feature phones. It’s also showcasing one device that hasn’t been officially launched yet, the Nokia X.

According to reports out of China, many billboards put up near the event’s location mention the Nokia X even though this device is yet to be announced. Despite the fact that the device is being showcased at the event, the company hasn’t displayed any information about its specifications and has even kept the units locked so it’s impossible for people to find out what the specs are.

However, HMD Global is now sending out invites for an event in China which will take place on May 16th. The invite doesn’t mention the handset by name but offers a pretty good hint what the spotlight will be on come May 16th. That’s finally when we’ll get to know more about what’s under the hood of the Nokia X.
