These days SSDs are becoming increasingly common on computers, like desktops and laptops. However just like how all HDDs aren’t made equal, neither are SSDs and if you’re looking for something more powerful for your next PC build, Samsung might have something for you in the form of the 970 PRO and EVO SSDs.

According to Samsung, “The Samsung 970 PRO and EVO are designed based on the M.2 form factor standard and with the latest PCIe Gen 3×4 lane interface. The 970 series maximizes the potential of NVMe bandwidth, delivering unparalleled performance for processing large volumes of data, including 3D, 4K graphics work, high-end games and data analytics.”

As for the read and write speeds of these SSDs, Samsung claims, “The 970 PRO enables sequential read speed of up to 3,500 MB/s and sequential write speed of up to 2,700 MB/s, while the EVO features sequential read speed of up to 3,500 MB/s and sequential write speed of up to 2,500 MB/s.”

In terms of pricing, SSDs are still more expensive than regular HDDs and the Samsung 970s are no exception. The 970 PRO will be priced starting at $329.99 for the 512GB model, while the 970 EVO will be priced at $119.99 for the 250GB model, both of which are expected to be made available starting May 7, 2018.
